The One Feature ShipStation Lacks That Made Me Stay With Veeqo
The One Feature ShipStation Lacks That Made Me Stay With Veeqo
As a small business owner handling daily shipping for orders across Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and BigCommerce, I'm always looking for tools that simplify fulfillment while keeping costs down. Recently, I spent time trialing ShipStation—a highly recommended shipping software known for its automation and polished interface. While there’s a lot to like, I ultimately decided to stick with Veeqo, and here’s why.
What I Liked About ShipStation
ShipStation lives up to its reputation in several areas:
Clean, intuitive UI: Order management and label printing are fast and easy.
Powerful automation rules: You can assign carriers, services, weights, and tags based on order details with a high degree of precision.
Customizable packing slips, branded tracking pages, and batch label processing also stood out.
The Dealbreaker: No Buy Shipping Support for USPS Ground Advantage
The main reason I began evaluating ShipStation was to streamline my growing volume of Ground Advantage and FedEx shipments, especially for Amazon orders. I was surprised to learn that although ShipStation supports Amazon Buy Shipping, it doesn’t allow USPS Ground Advantage as a selectable service.
For Amazon sellers, this is a major issue. Using Buy Shipping is critical to:
- Protect order metrics (valid tracking, delivery guarantees)
- Comply with A-to-Z Guarantee policies
- Avoid chargebacks and late shipment flags
With Ground Advantage being the most cost-effective and commonly used service for light packages, not being able to generate those labels through Amazon Buy Shipping inside ShipStation was a huge limitation.
Why Veeqo Still Wins (for Now)
Veeqo, now owned by Amazon, natively supports:
- USPS Ground Advantage through Amazon Buy Shipping
- FedEx and UPS integration
- Free labels with no monthly fee
While it lacks some of ShipStation’s automation depth and branded features, Veeqo’s direct tie-in to Amazon’s ecosystem gives it a crucial edge for my current shipping profile. I ship daily using Ground Advantage and FedEx, and Veeqo allows me to do both without worrying about Amazon performance metrics.
Final Thoughts
ShipStation is a fantastic tool—especially if you're shipping a wide variety of carriers and need complex workflow rules or a premium branded experience. But for Amazon-focused sellers using Ground Advantage and FedEx, Veeqo currently provides more practical value, especially with no software cost and full Buy Shipping compliance.
Until ShipStation supports USPS Ground Advantage under Amazon Buy Shipping, I’ll be sticking with what works—and that’s Veeqo.
